Supporting Bags of Creativity

BAGS OF CREATIVITY AND HOW WE’VE HELPED

West Design is proud to sponsor a new partnership which will deliver bags, packed with creative activities and inspiring materials to 8000 vulnerable children and young people across Yorkshire and the Humber this Summer. IVE, the Arts Council Bridge Organisation for Yorkshire and the Humber, is working with Local Cultural Education Partnerships (LCEPs) and social services in Bradford, Doncaster, East Riding, Hull, Leeds, Rotherham, Sheffield and York to deliver Bags of Creativity. Partners are working directly with social services in their local authority to distribute the bags to vulnerable children via trusted adults including social workers and foster carers. The bags are designed to make sure all children and young people can be creative at home by providing everything they need in one place. There is a different coloured Bag of Creativity for three separate age groups, containing 20 activity postcards, specially designed by local creatives.

For 2-6 year-olds, an orange bag contains vibrant chiffon scarves, a space blanket, and many other materials to enhance imaginative play, 7-11 year-olds will receive a bright green bag full of colouring pencils, pipe cleaners and further tactile materials for creative expression, 12-16 year-olds will receive a navy blue bag with contents including watercolour paints and modelling clay, giving them additional ways to explore their creativity. LazenbyBrown designed the Bags of Creativity free of charge, and West Design supplied age-appropriate materials for the bags.

“We’re proud to support Bags of Creativity this summer to ensure that these materials and activities reach the children who need them most.” Says Jo Bray, Managing Director – Sales and Marketing.

Bags of Creativity is led by IVE, and funded by Partnership Investment from Arts Council England, with match funding and sponsorship from a wide range of partners, including West Design, Bic, Cosy Direct, Derwent, Lazenby Brown and Specialist Crafts.
